SJ: Accepting Change in a Frozen Timeline

My latest article, co-authored with Matthew, is now up on Steampunk Journal.

Entitled “Accepting Change in a Frozen Timeline”, the article looks at change within Steampunk, and it is quite personal to me as I was an unfortunate witness in a series of rather distasteful events where one person was attempting to enforce his ideals within a group of people who did not agree with them. There was a lot of name-calling, including a wholly unnecessary use of the word “Fascist” on his part, and so many people came out of the experience with nothing but feelings of sadness and wanting to leave the community as a whole; all because of one man’s desire to see his own ideals implemented. I myself, was included in that group of people that wanted to leave, but thankfully, it never came to that extreme.

Hopefully, this article will show people that it is okay to disagree on direction and ideals within Steampunk, and that the desire to remain the same is equally as valid as the desire to change.
